Getting started

What is tuuty?

tuuty is a marketplace for learning a language 1:1 with a native-speaking tutor over live video, right in your browser. There are 500+ tutors across 30 languages, with a 4.9 average rating and 120k lessons taught. Lessons start from €4, and tutors set their own rates.

Is the first lesson really free?

Yes. Your first trial lesson is free and costs nothing from your wallet. It is one free lesson per account, so you can save it for the tutor you most want to try.

How do I pick a tutor?

Browse Find tutors and filter by language, price and rating. Every profile has an intro video, reviews and open times, and you can message a tutor before booking to check the fit.

Lessons and scheduling

How long are lessons?

Lessons are 25 or 50 minutes. A 25 minute lesson costs half the tutor's rate, which makes it a good format for quick conversation practice.

How do I book a time?

Open a tutor's profile and pick a free slot on their calendar. The times you see are already converted to your own timezone, and the lesson is confirmed as soon as you complete checkout.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes, you can cancel an upcoming lesson from your schedule. To move a lesson, cancel it and book a new time that works for you both.

What happens if I cancel?

The full price of the lesson goes straight back to your wallet. You can spend it on any tutor, not just the one you cancelled.

Wallet and payments

How do I add money?

You top up a wallet and pay for lessons from it. At checkout you can add a preset amount or exactly what a lesson needs, so you never overpay to book.

What currency do you use?

Everything on tuuty is in euros. Your wallet balance, tutor rates and receipts all show EUR, wherever you are.

Who processes payments?

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. VAT is handled at checkout, so the price you approve is the price you pay.

Do wallet funds expire?

No. Money in your wallet stays there until you spend it on a lesson, with no time limit.

The classroom

What do I need for a lesson?

A browser, a camera and a microphone. There is nothing to install: your lesson opens as a live 1:1 video call right in the browser.

Are calls recorded?

No. Calls are encrypted and never recorded. What happens in your lesson stays between you and your tutor.

What tools are in the room?

Live video, chat, private notes, a shared whiteboard and screen share. Chat messages with your tutor are saved to your inbox, so you can reread them after the lesson.

For tutors
